Description

Boat

Cocos Island Aggressor is a 37.8 metres long and 8.7 meters wide professional steel dive yacht. It is a brand new custom built dive yacht whose maiden voyage is January 14, 2023.

Cocos Island Aggressor diesel powered, cruises at 10 knots and has 110-volt power on board.

Cocos Island Aggressor has a spacious salon, large sun deck, chaise lounges, deck chairs, bar, and grill. There is ample storage space for your diving equipment in your personal locker. The yacht provide 80 cubic ft. tanks, weight belts and weights.

There is a variety of nightly entertainment, including diving, fish identification presentations, movies, games and more. If you have a favorite movie or digital presentation to share, we encourage you to bring it along. The staff especially loves new releases of movies, recent magazines and books. A small library of books for exchange is maintained onboard as well as fish identification books for reference.

The menu onboard is varied and plentiful, with a variety of American feasts, barbecues and local cuisine. You will awaken to fresh fruits, hot entrees, cereals and juices. Lunches feature hot soups, homemade breads, salads and sandwiches and/or entrees. Dinners are chef prepared and served each evening and include salads, vegetables, seafood, beef or chicken with a fresh homemade dessert. Once onboard, please speak to the chef about any special needs. Certain special dietary and beverage requests may not be available due to the remote nature of this location.

The onboard beverages selection includes fruit juices, soft drinks, iced water, iced tea, coffee, and a limited selection of local beer and wine, which are complimentary. Due to the high duty charged on liquor, we suggest you bring your special brand from the last duty free point. Once you consume alcohol, you become a snorkeler until the next day.

Cocos Island Aggressor's dive deck is spacious and well equipped with personal dive lockers, a camera table with low pressure air hose, two rinse tanks are conveniently located for washing dive equipment and cameras. The aft of the dive deck is equipped with two ladders exit, fin storage and two hot, fresh water showers.


Cabin

Cocos Island Aggressor has 11 comfortable cabins, it can welcome up to 22 guests :

All cabins have ensuite bathroom, hair dryer, AC control, closet, mirrored cabinet, monitor with media player.

1 Master Suite (#10) :
Located on the upper deck, this suite featuring one queen size double bed, large picture window.

3 Master Suites (#8, 9, 11) :
Located on the upper deck, each suites featuring two single beds side by side, large picture window.

7 Deluxe Staterooms (#1 - 7):
Located on the lower deck, each cabin featuring two single beds side by side, portholes.


Diving

  • 3 - 4 dives per day, an average of 21 dives per trip.
  • 1 Check dive will be provided on the embarkation day.
  • All diving will provide experienced guide to lead the dive.
  • Divers must have AOW level with at least 50 logged dives.
  • Most divers use a 5mm wetsuit with booties and a hood.

Cocos Island

Cocos Island National Park was designated a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1997. Weather permitting, all guests are shuttled ashore to hike through the jungles of Cocos and swim in her many waterfalls. All ten-day trips offer seven days of Costa Rica liveaboard scuba diving.


10 night Charter Sample Itinerary

Day 1 : Meet in front of host hotel. Transfer to Puntarenas for boarding/departure.
Day 2 - 3 : Travel to Cocos Island, Arrive to Cocos Island, diving begins.
Day 4 - 9 : Eat, Sleep & Dive in Cocos Island
Day 9 - 10: Travel back to Puntarenas.
Day 11 : Check out at 7 am and transfer to San Jose Airport or host hotels.

You will be diving in water that averages 72 - 82F / 22 - 28C with cool thermoclines. A 5mm wetsuit is recommended year round.

The Okeanos Aggressor I® & Okeanos Aggressor II® depart from Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Boarding and departure depends on the tide schedule. Immediately after boarding for our Costa Rica liveaboard scuba diving adventure, the yacht departs for its 36 hour crossing to Cocos Island.

There are multiple dives throughout the day for an average of 21 dives on 10 night charters. No night diving is currently offered at Cocos Island.

Guests will be met by a representative in uniform at the Park Inn by Radisson San Jose on the day of departure at a pre-set time for the group transfer. The pick-up and boarding time schedule is available in our "Know Before You Go" document and below in the "Departure Schedule" link. Boarding depends on the tide schedule. Immediately after boarding the yacht departs for its crossing to Cocos Island to prepare for diving Monday morning.

After a full seven days of diving, the yachts return back to the dock in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Check-out is Tuesday morning at 7:30 am. Transportation is provided back to the host hotels or San Jose (SJO) airport from the yacht at the end of the charter. Book flights after 12:30 pm


Cocos Top Dive Sites

Alcyone A 600’ long submerged mountain, the top of the mountain is 75’ from the surface. Schooling Hammerheads, Mantas and schooling fish. Possible Sailfish or Marlin.

Big Dos Amigos This islet features a 45-foot-high arch and 60-foot pinnacle off the southeast side. Look for Rainbow Runners, Yellowtail Snapper, Bigeye Jacks and lobster. Hammerheads swim between the pinnacle and arch.

Bird Island, Chatham Bay Dove from Chatham Bay, southeast of Manuelita, this site provides a variety of marine life including Frog Fish, lobsters, morays, rays, White Tip Sharks and Hammerheads. There is even a cleaning station.

Dirty Rock A large island with schools of Marble Rays and Hammerheads.

Lone Stone Schooling Marble Rays and Mobula Rays.

Manuelita The northeast corner has asheer wall. Lots of White Tips, Marble Rays and schools of Creoles.

Special Sightings Whale Sharks, mating Eagle Rays, Sail Fish, mating White Tip Sharks, False Killer Whales.

Ubing Rock, Wafer Bay This 300’ rock begins at 20’ and drops to a 110’ sandy bottom. The southeast slope attracts schooling Hammerheads.


Local Fees/Taxes

Cocos Island Park Fee (10 night charters): $490 for diver, $350 for non-diver, plus 13% government tax may be paid in cash or by credit card (with a fee) Cocos Island Emergency Evacuation Plan: $30

Starting April 1, 2022 a fuel surcharge of $200 pp will be collected at the end of the trip.

Prices are USD. Costa Rica residents/locals 65 years and older do not pay the above referenced government tax.

Informations pratiques

Île Coco

Période: les croisières plongées sont possible toute l'année. Août à septembre sont les mois les plus populaires. De juin à juillet les conditions de mer sont plus calmes et permettent de voir pus de gros.

Les visas: la plupart des nationalités sont autorisées à séjourner au Costa Rica pour 30 ou 90 jours sans visa. Contacter l'ambassade ou le consulat le plus proche de chez vous pour plus d'informations.

Climat: climat humide Tropical tout au long de l'année – humide de juillet à octobre, sec de novembre à mai.

Eau: La température moyenne est de 25° - 27°, même si elle peut être de quelques degrés plus bas avec des thermoclines occasionnels.

Vêtements: Légers et estivale. Les nuits peuvent être froides ou pluvieuses, une veste légère ou un coupe-vent est recommandé.

Vols: Les vols internationaux arrivent à Juan Santamaría Airport (SJO) qui se trouve à proximité des villes de Alajuela, Heredia et la capitale San José.
